Privacy Policy

Last updated: January 1, 2025

This Privacy Policy explains how IsMyVPNWorking.com ("we", "our", or "us") collects, uses, and protects information when you visit our website. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our practices.

1. Information We Collect

IsMyVPNWorking.com is designed with privacy as a core principle. We do not collect, store, or process any personally identifiable information about our visitors.

What our VPN check tool does NOT store:

  • Your IP address (detected transiently in your browser only, never sent to our servers)
  • Your location data
  • Your browsing history
  • Any test results from the VPN check
  • Any account information (we have no accounts)

Technical information automatically collected by our hosting provider may include standard server log data such as your IP address, browser type, referring page, and timestamp. This data is collected by our hosting infrastructure (GitHub Pages or Cloudflare Pages) and is subject to their respective privacy policies. We do not access or use this data for any purpose.

2. How Our VPN Check Tool Works

The VPN check runs entirely within your browser using JavaScript. When you load our page, your browser makes direct requests to the following third-party APIs to determine your IP address and VPN status:

  • ipapi.co — used to detect your public IP address and geographic information. Their privacy policy is available at ipapi.co/privacy.
  • ip-api.com — used to detect VPN/proxy status associated with your IP address. Their privacy policy is available at ip-api.com/docs/legal.
  • Google STUN servers (stun.l.google.com) — used for WebRTC leak detection. Your browser may communicate with Google's STUN infrastructure as part of this check.

These third-party services receive your IP address as part of the lookup request. We encourage you to review their privacy policies to understand how they handle this data. We do not receive, store, or process the results of these API calls beyond what is temporarily displayed in your browser.

3. Cookies

IsMyVPNWorking.com itself does not set any first-party cookies for tracking or analytics purposes.

Google AdSense cookies: We display advertising provided by Google AdSense. Google AdSense may use cookies, web beacons, and similar technologies to serve personalised advertisements based on your visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to our site and/or other sites on the internet.

The types of cookies AdSense may use include:

  • DoubleClick cookie (NID, DSID): Used to show Google ads on non-Google sites and to track whether you have seen a specific ad previously.
  • Preference cookies: Used to remember your preferences and personalise your experience.
  • Analytics cookies: Used to understand how visitors interact with websites.

4. Google AdSense and Personalised Advertising

We use Google AdSense to display advertisements on this website. Google AdSense uses the DoubleClick cookie to serve ads based on your prior visits to our website and other sites. This allows Google and its partners to serve ads relevant to your interests.

How to opt out of personalised ads:

  • Visit Google's Ad Settings to opt out of personalised advertising from Google.
  • Visit AboutAds.info to opt out of personalised advertising from participating companies.
  • Install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on to prevent Google Analytics from collecting data about your visits.
  • Use your browser's private/incognito mode to limit cookie-based tracking.

5. Affiliate Links

This website contains affiliate links to VPN providers. When you click an affiliate link, you will be directed to the VPN provider's website. These third-party websites have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their data practices. Clicking affiliate links may set cookies on your browser by those third-party services to track referrals for commission purposes.

6. GDPR Compliance (European Union Residents)

If you are located in the European Union or European Economic Area, you have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

  • Right of access: You have the right to request information about any personal data we hold about you.
  • Right to erasure: You have the right to request deletion of your personal data.
  • Right to object: You have the right to object to certain types of data processing.
  • Right to data portability: You have the right to receive your data in a portable format.

As we do not collect or store personally identifiable information, these rights are largely not applicable to data held directly by us. However, for any concerns regarding data held by our third-party service providers (Google AdSense, ipapi.co, ip-api.com), please contact those services directly.

Our legal basis for displaying advertisements is legitimate interest, as described in Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR. For personalised advertising based on consent, we rely on Article 6(1)(a).

7. CCPA Compliance (California Residents)

If you are a California resident, you have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):

  • Right to know: You have the right to know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose.
  • Right to delete: You have the right to request deletion of personal information we have collected.
  • Right to opt out: You have the right to opt out of the sale of your personal information.
  • Right to non-discrimination: You have the right not to be discriminated against for exercising your CCPA rights.

We do not sell personal information. We do not collect personal information beyond what is described in this policy. For requests related to CCPA rights, contact us at the address below.

IsMyVPNWorking.com is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to remove that information.
